ROCSAUT orientation!

Yesterday the server was down, so I couldn't post.  I'm going to try and remember what I did on these two days

 What did I learn today?

  • Stereographic projection - rotations!
  • Why there are exceptions in the trends in the periodic table - why the hell are we still learning this stuff?  We learned trends in the periodic table in like grade 11, and now we are STILL learning it?
  • Steel mills like material science engineers
  • You can probably get a job with a civil engineering firm if you say that you work with sustainability
  • Materials people can pretty much steal any mech/chem job
  • You don't have to dress so much for a job fair.  A dress shirt and jeans will put you ahead of half the people there.
  • I can still speak/understand a lot of Chinese
  • Most people in ROCSAUT (republic of china students at university of toronto) are immigrants - and thus it is a great place to practice chinese.  Horrible place to practice english
  • ROCSAUT has badminton intramurals
  • You can study in the room next to the MSE common room if there isn't any classes there.  It's better that Gerstien almost.
  • Quality assurance engineering with materials actually utilizes a lot of MSE concepts.  They do grain boundary things and look how planes line up and things at a molecular level

What happened today that was unexpected?

Accomplishments?

Disappointments?

Future Goals?
